Instead of stark, bare wood, the risers of the stairs will be adorned with intricately patterned, low-pile kilim rugs, applied seamlessly and secured for safety. These rugs will introduce a vibrant color palette of deep indigos, rich ochres, and soft emerald greens, setting the bohemian tone immediately. The muddy floor at the bottom of the stairs will be replaced with large, hand-painted terracotta tiles with antique detailing, arranged in a playful, organic pattern. A built-in bench will be integrated into the wall at the bottom of the staircase, upholstered in a plush, sunflower-yellow velvet, piled high with an assortment of textured cushions in various sizes and patterns – think macrame, embroidered florals, and chunky knits in jewel tones. Flanking the bench, custom-built cubbies will be carved into the log walls, each lined with a contrasting patterned paper or fabric, perfect for storing boots and outerwear. A large, antique Armenian rug in muted reds and blues will cover a significant portion of the floor space, grounding the entire area. The ceiling mural will be removed and replaced with a softly plastered finish in a warm, off-white hue, upon which clusters of delicate, hand-blown glass pendant lights will be suspended at varying heights. These lights will emit a warm, golden glow, mimicking the late afternoon sun. Hanging from the ceiling beams will be macrame plant hangers overflowing with trailing ivy and ferns, bringing a touch of lush greenery indoors. The air will carry a faint scent of cedar and dried lavender. The spatial layout prioritizes flow and comfort. As you descend the stairs, the eye is drawn through the vibrant rug patterns and up to the hanging plants. The seating area at the bottom, with the plush bench and scattered cushions, invites a moment of rest and transition. The cubbies are easily accessible, promoting organizational neatness within the bohemian aesthetic.
